Rangefinder 30 Rising Stars of Wedding Photography 2021

Describing a feeling using words, an emotion, a step in life.
Not easy, right?
Words are always connected with each other, what to say first, how to start the story, how to make you feel what live inside me? When the feeling is so clear, so present, so intense, how can I pass it to you?
There is no coincidence, I think that’s why I am a photographer today, to make you feel, remember the emotion through an image, rather than using words that sometimes are not enough.
That's why I'm so proud to be part of the 30 photographers selected for the 30 Rising Stars contest this year. We are like a big family and there is so many photographers I admire.
Their desire is to highlight photographers with a strong personality, very different from what we usually see in the industry, talented with a unique artistic universe. They give no credit to your number of followers, the country you come from or your popularity, everyone is welcome to enter.
Receiving this good news after all we've been through for almost 2 years, sounded quite unreal, and knowing my company is still very young, I was so proud and shocked at the same time.
But let's start from the beginning. I received an email from the New-York magazine Rangefinder (the official magazine of WPPI, Wedding and Portrait Photographers International) in early September, it said that I was one of the pre-selected talents for this year 30 Rising Stars competition, one of the most prestigious titles in the wedding industry. One person among 200 other photographers around the world. Moment of hesitation, panic, my imposter syndrome is showing off. Ok, and why wouldn’t be me?
They require sending about 30 different photos from my wedding’s galleries, showcasing moments during the day, that reflects my style and my artistic universe. As you can imagine, I had a really hard time choosing and narrowing my selection down to 30 photos. How can you choose between thousands of images you took over the years? I cherish every photo I took, each one of them is reflecting a special moment, an emotion, a feeling.
I then took a deep breath and tried to focus on what really reflects my work the most. “To feel with the heart, what you cannot see with the eyes” is what inspire my work. I like to create a diffuse and soft atmosphere to capture a fleeting memory. This led me towards my final selection, and you can see underneath, the photos I selected.
This recognition marks a new step of achievement in my journey, proving the path I took 3 years ago was the right one, when I followed my instinct. Not hiding the fact that I often doubt, and question myself, but I now know that I am where I’m supposed to be, true to myself and worthy. I'm actually quite proud to add a touch of femininity to this list of French people, which was very masculine until now.
There are so many people I should thank, but first of all thank you to all my couples who trusted me for their wedding day, without you these pictures would simply not exist. I am proud I have been able to follow you on these beautiful days, and I look forward to keep on doing it with future couples.
I would also like to thank my loved ones who believed in me on this path and that ever supported me along the way. I won't be able to name everyone, but a special thanks to Eric René Penoy, and Manos & Georgia for being trustful supporters and showing me that I was worth being on that list of talents.
Thanks to the magazine Rangefinder and the whole team for choosing my work among all these talented photographers, I am extremely grateful.
And of course, congratulations to the other 29 talented photographers on the list. It's such an honor and privilege to be on this list with you.

Devoir mettre des mots sur un ressenti, une émotion, une étape de la vie. Pas facile n’est-ce pas ?
Les mots s’entremêlent toujours les uns avec les autres, ne savent pas dans quel ordre sortir, que dire en premier, comment commencer l’histoire, comment faire si bien ressentir ce qu’il en est à l’intérieur de moi ? Alors que le ressenti est si net, si présent, si intense, comment vous le transmettre.
Il n’y a pas de hasard, je pense que c’est en partie pour cela que je suis aujourd’hui photographe, faire ressentir, se souvenir à travers une image, plutôt qu’à travers des mots qui semblent parfois bien insuffisants.
C’est je crois pour cela que je suis si fière de faire partie des 30 photographes sélectionné.es cette année pour les 30 Rising Stars, telle une grande famille où se trouvent déjà tant de photographes que j’admire. Pour leur envie de montrer des personnes avec un univers marqué, parfois très différent de ce que l’on voit dans le milieu, hors des conventions. Pour leur souhait de sélectionner des personnes peu importe leur pays, leur nombre d’abonné.es sur Instagram, leur popularité.
Recevoir cette nouvelle après tout ce que l’on a vécu depuis presque 2 ans, alors que mon entreprise en encore toute jeune, c’est assez irréel, entre fierté et étonnement.
Mais commençons par le commencement : Début septembre, je reçois un mail du magazine New Yorkais Rangefinder (le magazine officiel du WPPI, Wedding and Portrait Photographers International), m’indiquant que je fais partie des pré-sélectionné.es de cette année pour les 30 Rising Stars, un des titres les plus prestigieux dans l’industrie du mariage. Une personne parmi plus de 200 autres photographes partout dans le monde. Instant de flottement, panique, réminiscence d’un syndrome de l’imposteur. Ok, et puis en fait, pourquoi pas moi ?
Pour la candidature, je dois donc envoyer 30 photos de différents reportages de mariage, montrant les différents moments d’une journée, et que cela reflète mon style et mon univers. Je vous laisser imaginer ce qu’il s’est ensuivi, l’indécise en moi a eu du mal, beaucoup de mal à choisir. Comment choisir entre tous ces mariages et ces couples que j’ai accompagnés depuis un peu plus de 3 ans, toutes ces images que j’aime profondément, chacune reflétant un instant particulier, une émotion, un ressenti.
Ce fut au final assez évident de vouloir montrer ce qui m’anime le plus dans mon métier : pouvoir amener cette impression de souvenir diffus, fugace, éthéré. Comme j’aime si bien le dire, “ressentir et voir avec le cœur, avant de voir avec les yeux”. Cela a donc guidé mon choix, et vous pouvez voir sous ce texte les photos que j’ai choisies d’envoyer.
Cette reconnaissance marque une nouvelle étape dans mon parcours, me confirmant toujours plus que le chemin que je prends depuis 3 ans est bien le bon, écoutant mon instinct, ce qui me guide, ce qui m’anime. Je ne cache pas qu’il y a parfois des doutes, des remises en question, mais je sais profondément que je suis là où je dois être, fidèle à moi-même et vraie. Je suis d’ailleurs assez fière d’amener un peu de féminité dans cette liste de Français jusque là très masculine. Bravo d’ailleurs à Phan Tien qui me rejoint sur la liste cette année.
Il y a tellement de gens à remercier, mais merci tout d’abord à tous ces couples qui m’ont fait jusque là confiance pour leur mariage, sans vous ces photos n’existeraient tout simplement pas. Je suis fière d’avoir pu vous accompagner sur ces belles journées, et de pouvoir continuer à capturer des souvenirs sur de prochains mariages.
Je tiens également à remercier tous mes proches qui ont cru en moi sur ce chemin et me soutiennent au quotidien.
